Makeup Revolution Fast Base Foundation Stick Review

Anyone who's been following me for a while now will know how I feel about the brand Makeup Revolution. I LOVE their products. I've yet to have found a product of theirs that I dislike in any way, so when I heard about their new stick foundations I was pretty excited. Could a drug store brand bring out a £5 foundation stick that lives up to luxury brands who have done it before? I had to find out!
Note: I don't wear foundation on an everyday basis so I decided to use this product as a cream contour and review it that way. Read on to find out if I recommend it for this use or not.

Product Appearance:

For a product that's only £5 I was surprised at how pretty it's packaging is. It's matte pinky peach finish as well as rose gold accents on the opening and logo makes it stand out and is definitely not like anything I already own in my makeup collection. It's size isn't too bulky or long meaning it'll fit pretty great in any everyday makeup bag. A concern but not a deal breaker was the worry that if you're using it everyday, it'll get dirty easily however with a quick wipe, its clean and looking as good as new.  My advice is to just be prepared and have a wipe at hand and keep your makeup bag as clean as possible.

Application:

As I was using the foundation stick as a cream contour I used shade F10, It's usually difficult to find the perfect contour shade but with Revolution's 15 colour shade range I had little trouble. this shade was perfect for my very pale skin tone. It's under tone wasn't too orange which is always a worry of mine where contour products are concerned. It applied smoothly, which was surprising as it is a stick product which are known to be stiff and not as easy to apply. After applying the product straight to my face from the stick, I blended it with a Real Techniques miracle complexion sponge then for experimenting more I went over it with an expert face brush for a more seamless blend. I prefer a more light contour then a bolder one so applied it with a lighter hand than I'd use if I was using it for it's main purpose.

Finish:
The finish was not matte and instead dewi which was a nice change to my usual contour powder that's been my go to for years. It also wasn't dry and didn't leave my face feeling stiff or like I had lots of product on it. Once blended it laid nicely on top of my concealer and didn't cling to any areas. I've also been having some skin issues at the moment which this product helped to hide around my cheekbone area, proving how great of a medium to full coverage product it is. Once set with powder it became even more seamless and worked well with the different products it came into contact with.

Wear Time:

I didn't have as busy of a day as I could have on some occasions so it's wear test could be tested again more efficiently however it was a humid day in London which usually means makeup doesn't last as long on the T zone and personally for me doesn't last on my forehead (where I did choose to bronze up my face using this product around my temples). Considering I had set the cream contour with powder and didn't wear it all over my face as foundation, it lasted as it should have and needed no touch ups whatsoever. Once set with powder (I used the Rimmel match perfect loose powder in shade transparent 001) and setting spray (I used the NYX dewi finish setting spray), there was no change to the coverage, colour, or texture.

Overall Thoughts:

For £5 this product is great for my personal contour use, it'll last me twice as long as it would someone who's using it as foundation but due to its higher coverage a little goes a long way and I reckon will last you at least 2-3 on an everyday use as a full face foundation, meaning it's a bargain and could definitely compete with full coverage liquid based foundations.
Makeup Revolution get mixed opinions as a brand but have been one of my go tos for years now. They're a game changer for cruelty free drug store beauty lovers like myself, bringing out products worth the hype and for half the price of competing brands. This specific product is a win for me and definitely has the Sparks approval.
