10 Beauty Staples I Can't Live Without

If you've been following my blog for the last two years than you may have noticed my love of beauty products, especially makeup has developed, a lot! I've come a long way since my teen years of black eyeliner and lipgloss, and my love for certain brands is something my friends and family are fully aware of. For instance my mum never asks me what I've bought from Lime Crime anymore, as it's obvious whatever I've come home with is accompanied by a Velvetine Liquid Lipstick which has definitely been one of my product staples for years now.

So what other products can I not live without?
Well I'll be honest, due to my love of makeup but small monthly budget to spend on beauty products, it's been hard to decide what products to include. It's no secret I have a lot of make up and no everyday makeup look, so including a product from each makeup product category isn't what you'll find in this post. What you will find though, is a few products I find hard to shut up about, and ones I use on all my friends when I get the chance. They're products I never forget when travelling and ones I run out of and repurchase at least three times a year.

The perfect tools:

Brushes, beauty blenders, lash curlers, even tweezers- they're all so important! I honestly think makeup tools are what really matter when it comes to makeup. Use different brushes when testing out a new foundation and you'll find at least two finishes you like and that are different to each other. Brush wise, a brand I've been using since day one is Real Techniques  they're brushes and tools have come along way since six years ago and since their Bold Metals and PowderBleu Collections came out the brand has gotten better and better. Besides Morphe, which I'm interested in trying out soon, Real Techniques is the only brush brand I'll be using!
Two of my favourite brushes of theirs are the 203 Tapered Brush and the B04 Soft Shadow Brush. I kid you not when I say these brushes have transformed my eyeshadow looks as well as using the B04 for highlighting my cheekbones. I don't just love these brushes for what they can do though, they're also beautiful to display, even when they're covered in pigmented eyeshadows, I'm happy to have them sitting there looking "instagramable" and loved.
Another product of theirs that is as equally beautiful as it is useful is the Miracle Diamond Sponge. I choose to keep mine dry for a more full coverage finish and use it specifically for baking. With its larger flat sides I bake my under eyes and use its straight edges to chisel out and straighten up my contoured cheeks with loose powder. Using the sponge for baking is a game changer for my makeup looks. Oh and did I mention it's marble printed?!

The base:

Until I started getting bags under my eyes I didn't use to take much notice of my base. Concealer has become a life saver for that reason now though and the one drug store brand that seem to get it right with every concealer product they bring out is Collection. It's inexpensive Lasting Perfection Concealer in shade extra fair is perfect for covering the purple under my eyes as well as being the same colour as my skin, it conceals any spots I have without having to layer it over foundation. It's my everyday go to as well as a product I swear by for all my friends to try out.
Another product I swear by and only came across this year is the NYX Dewy Finish Setting Spray. When I do wear foundation this is my go to for setting during and after doing my makeup. I chose this as a staple as its been a life saver for me when my base makeup isn't seamless. the product doesn't just create a dewy finish, it also blends and melts each product you've layered on your face without it looking caked on. I haven't found a setting spray that does that as well as this one and although its at a higher price point for a drug store brand, it is definitely worth purchasing every three or so months.

All you need for the eyes:

It's hard to pick one eyeshadow palette. With so many amazing drugstore brands and vegan ones I'm obsessed with, I can't just have the one palette I use daily. Admittedly I use several in every look I do. Saying that, one palette that was a game changer for me and started my love for makeup and vegan brands was the Lime Crime's Venus Palette. I've spoken about this product a few times and it's no surprise as reds have always been my favourite shades to play with where makeup is concerned. It's a universal colour shade that has been in the beauty industry since it first started. If I'm not doing a classic vintage look with a red lip, then I'm playing with reds on my eyes and this palette is a dream for creating grunge looks as well as toned down elegant ones with dark pinks.
A beauty product staples post wouldn't be complete without a mascara, I've tried many over the years and one I always come back to is the Loreal Paris Volume Million Lashes So Couture. It's one of very few mascaras that lift my lashes and keep them lifted throughout the day. It's wand is small enough to coat my lashes from the root as well as being easy to apply on my lower lashes. I've used this mascara on the go as well as in the morning and I've never had any issues or mistakes made.

Lip savers:

My lips are one of the most important parts of my face I like to care for, so before putting on a lipstick I make it a priority to prep my lips. Lipstick, more specifically liquid lipsticks can be damaging to and dry out your lips as well as causing the skin to crack, so a product I swear by is Lush's Lip Scrubs. The mint julips flavour is my favourite and lasts a long time despite its tiny 25g tub. I tend to use this by scrapping out a small amount on my finger and rubbing it into my lips, I occasionally will do this with a small tooth brush if my lips are more happened than usual during winter.
After using the scrub I use Hemp Lip Balm by The Body Shop. It keeps my lips hydrated as well as sealing them against a matte lipstick. I never realised the benefits of Hemp seed oil until I used this product and since first trying it out earlier this year I've not gone one day without it.
If I'm not wearing a lipstick and going bare for the day I still keep up my routine of using both these lip products. Not only do they last a long time and work, they're also an amazing price and without a doubt worth repurchasing.
